Dog-Friendly Willamette Valley

It’s Willamette, Dammit!

After spending a few days on the coast in Cannon Beach, Alice and I picked up our friend Cait and went to the Willamette Valley for two nights!  The Willamette Valley is known for wine, especially Pinot Noir.  Cait and I love wine and vineyards and hiking, so this was the perfect little trip before heading back to Portland!

The Vintages

Our “hotel” was one of the coolest I’ve ever stayed in!  The Vintages Trailer Resort consists of 36 remodeled trailers.  The park is adorable, the trailer was so cute and fun, plus there was a pool, a very nice locker room (we chose to shower here instead of using the tiny shower inside our trailer), fire pits, a convenience store, and bicycles.  The staff was super friendly, and we had a great time chatting with other guests at the fire pits one night.  Only some of the trailers are dog-friendly, so pay attention to that when booking!

Vineyards

There are plenty of vineyards to choose from near The Vintages.  These are the three we absolutely loved!

Bryn Mawr Vineyards - This is one of the most beautiful vineyards I’ve visited.  The view, from the top of the hill, is stunning.  We did a great wine tasting as well as a delicious cheese and charcuterie board.  If you only go to one vineyard in the valley, this should be it!

Eola Hills Legacy Estate - A beautiful view and patio, and an adorable dog fountain.  We did a quick smaller wine tasting here, from Adirondack chairs facing the fields of vines.

Knudsen Vineyards - The patio, wine tasting, and food were lovely here!  The grounds are beautiful too, I only wish you had more of a view of them from all parts of the seating area.

Hiking

We only did one hike, in Silver Falls State Park.  There are many waterfalls in this park, but the dog-friendliness of the trails was confusing.  All Trails said dogs were allowed.  Something else I read online said dogs were allowed.  But some portions of the trail had a sign indicating dogs were not allowed there.  I have no idea if we followed all of the rules, but we saw three or four of the ten waterfalls, and it was really beautiful!

McMinville

McMinville is a town near The Vintages and we stopped here for dinner one night!  There were a lot of restaurants with outdoor seating.  We had Mexican food that was quite good, and stopped for a drink at another bar across from a spot with live music happening on the street.
