Dog-Friendly Brooklyn

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

**Updated May 2024

We have many friends who live in Brooklyn, so Alice and I have spent a lot of time in this borough! Even though there are more indoor spots in BK than in Manhattan that allow dogs, I still recommend visiting in spring, summer, or fall to take advantage of the gorgeous outdoor spaces in warm weather. For an overview about dogs in NYC (transportation, restaurants, shops, etc.), take a look at my Dog-Friendly Manhattan post!

Bars & Restaurants

Westlight - 111 N 12th St, Williamsburg

Alice has been on the patio and the indoor area of Westlight! This rooftop bar in the William Vale Hotel has amazing views of Manhattan. It is popular, so make a reservation several days, or even a few weeks ahead of time during the summer!

Bar Blondeau - 80 Wythe Ave, Williamsburg

Another of our favorite rooftop bars, this one at the Wythe Hotel. This bar is beautiful, with great views, and the staff loves dogs! Dogs are allowed indoors and on the patio. Bar Blondeau has a really good specials menu for sunset during the week! We celebrated Alice’s 15th birthday here.

Lucky Dog - 303 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg

Lucky Dog is probably the first thing that will show up if you do a Google search for dog-friendly bars in NYC. It is one of my favorite bars in Brooklyn - a divey feel with a good selection of beers and liquor. Lucky Dog has a very friendly vibe and there will be several other dogs there - mostly off-leash (both indoors and out back). They also have a backyard where you’ll find dogs running around and playing. Alice loves this place and especially enjoys sitting near the door and acting as unofficial greeter as new potential friends arrive. They are strict about checking IDs at the door, but the bouncer is so friendly and a huge dog-lover!

Dolly’s Swing and Dive - 101 Kent Ave, Williamsburg

We love Dolly’s! A small, chill, neighborhood bar that allows dogs inside. Alice makes many friends any time I take her to Dolly’s.

Tacocina - Domino Park, 25 River Street, Williamsburg

A year-round taco stand located along the East River in the middle of Domino Park. The views of the bridges and skyline are fantastic, and the seating area has heaters in the winter. The tacos are delicious, and the queso blanco is actually pretty good (I’m a Tex-Mex snob, so this was a very exciting discovery)! Margaritas and other cocktails are also available.

Maracuja - 279 Grand St, Williamsburg

We used to go here all. the. time. They have a really nice outdoor setup right now, the staff is super friendly, and their rosé from the Rhône Valley is sooo delicious!

Horses & Divorces - 285 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg

I had walked by this bar so many times on my way to Lucky Dog and didn’t realize it was dog-friendly until very recently! Alice and I sat at the bar (with our friends Meaghan and Auggie) and enjoyed several beverages and some puppy treats. A new favorite!

Fette Sau - 354 Metropolitan Ave, Williamsburg

Some of the best barbecue I’ve ever had - and I lived in Texas for five years! Get the ribs, they are incredible. The whiskey list is also impressive. Dogs are only allowed in the outdoor area with picnic tables, and one employee tried to kick us out once… but then the manager caught us and said Alice could stay.

Ten Hope - 10 Hope St, Williamsburg

I love this Mediterranean restaurant hidden on a side street in Williamsburg. The food is wonderful and they have a beautiful patio/garden that allows dogs! Plus, the frosé… :)

Washington Commons - 748 Washington Ave, Prospect Heights

There’s a large backyard, but dogs are also allowed inside.

The Gibson - 108 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg

The Gibson allows dogs indoors!

Harefield Road - 769 Metropolitan Ave, Williamsburg

Harefield Road has a lovely backyard, but the inside is also dog-friendly! They serve brunch on the weekends and dogs are not allowed during those times. Cash only!

Other Half Brewing - 34 River St, Williamsburg

Dogs are allowed inside at this large brewery right next to Domino Park!

Frankel’s Delicatessen - 631 Manhattan Ave, Greenpoint

A Jewish deli known for their bagels and lox. Expect a line, especially on weekends, but it is worth the wait! Alice was one of five pups not-so-patiently waiting for their order the first time we went to Frankel’s. They continue serving until they run out of bagels, so keep that in mind. Get your order to-go and enjoy in McCarren Park, which is a block away!

Elder Greene - 160 Franklin St, Greenpoint

The food here is delicious and they have really yummy cocktails! There are a few tables outside that are lovely in the summer, and one time they let us sneak Alice in and keep her under our table.

Gueros - 605 Prospect Pl, Crown Heights

Gueros has the best queso in the city! Their tacos and margaritas are also excellent - those margs will hit you harder than you might expect! They have a limited outdoor seating area, so arrive before the dinner rush.

Archway under Manhattan Bridge - 30 Adams Street, DUMBO

There is a kiosk that sells drinks and snacks, sometimes there will be other food vendors set up, and many art/performance events pop up throughout the year! This is a good stop for a break after enjoying Brooklyn Bridge Park and the DUMBO area with your pup, unless there’a a big event happening.

Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory - 14 Old Fulton St, Brooklyn Heights

Their ice cream is so so good. Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is now situated across the street from Brooklyn Bridge Park, with views of downtown Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Manhattan Bridge. There is always a line, but it usually moves quickly and is completely outside, so your pup can stay with you.

Habana Outpost - 757 Fulton Street, Fort Greene

Habana Outpost closes for the winter, but will reopen in the spring. They serve Mexican and Cuban food from a truck and have many picnic tables in their outdoor space.
